SQUINT! SoCS on Sunday?

Always a day late and a dollar short…! I may not be late for church today, but I know I am late for the SoCS post.

Is that you? Is it procrastination or what? Maybe someone did not inform you in time and so you missed the bus. You might miss church today too, but you did not miss this photo shoot.

Church. Keep your mind on your business.

The preacher is saying we need to focus. I see the lady across the aisle from me is eating chocolate! What a hypocrite! She should focus on why she came here!

The man in front of me is sleeping–hmmm!

Oh, did I remember to turn off the oven? What if…?

When we all stand up to sing, I will sneak out early and probably nobody will notice.

I have traveled HWY 287 between Denver and Dallas many times with my daddy’s aunt when she was off from school during summer breaks, but mostly the rides were from our farm to church, school or grocery shopping nearby my hometown of Clarendon, Texas.

The highway itself was built with gravel taken from one of my daddy’s farms near a place called Hedley. He originally bought what was known as “the old Mann place” so he could run Galloway cattle there, but with trespassers always leaving the gates open when they came to shoot quail, he had a hard time keeping his cattle contained. Neighbors would call and say, “Your cows are out again.” Or they would call to complain that our bull had knocked down one of their chicken pens.

I am not politically motivated in any way. I do love my homeland and often worry about the turn our government is taking, but I generally keep my opinions to myself. My head is not in the sand. The nearest I have ever come to making a public statement about my political preferences was on MULIEBRAL VIEWPOINT last year and the only two comments were sage.
