Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world (1 Peter 5:8-9).

Sometimes Christians become complacent and start thinking that because they will not watch such movies, as “The God Who Wasn’t There,” that nobody else will either, or they think their own families will not be affected by such an attack.  Believe me; we have witnessed quite a few “strong” Christian families falling apart because they thought they were impervious to such attacks.  We need to have answers for those who attack our faith (1 Pet. 3:15).  This is partly why I write some of the ladies’ lesson series—so that we can build faith in the word of God.

WE KNOW FROM Matthew 28:18 THAT JESUS HAS ALL AUTHORITY AFTER THE CROSS.

“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.”

JESUS GAVE LAWS THAT ARE OPPOSITE TO THE OLD TESTAMENT LAWS. Matt. 5:31-39).   HE SEEMED TO BE CONTRADICTING THE MOSAIC LAW.

31 It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:

32 But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.

33 Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths:

34 But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God’s throne:

35 Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King.

36 Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black.

37 But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.

38 Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:

39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also Matt. 5:31-39).

Matt. 5:17-18

17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

WE HAVE SEEN THAT THE GREATEST AND THE SECOND GREATEST COMMANDS ARE NOT PART OF THE TEN ACCORDING TO Matt. 22:36-40.  THIS MAKES AT LEAST TWELVE COMMANDMENTS (NOT 10).

36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?

37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

38 This is the first and great commandment.

39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

MOST BIBLE STUDENTS AGREE NUMBERS 18:26 IS NOT PART OF THE TEN COMMANDMENTS.

26 Thus speak unto the Levites, and say unto them, When ye take of the children of Israel the tithes which I have given you from them for your inheritance, then ye shall offer up an heave offering of it for the LORD, even a tenth part of the tithe.

Exodus 20:18-26—GOD CONTINUES TO GIVE HIS LAWS.

18 And all the people saw the thunderings, and the lightnings, and the noise of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking: and when the people saw it, they removed, and stood afar off.

19 And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God speak with us, lest we die. 

20 And Moses said unto the people, Fear not: for God is come to prove you, and that his fear may be before your faces, that ye sin not.

21 And the people stood afar off, and Moses drew near unto the thick darkness where God was.

22 And the LORD said unto Moses, Thus thou shalt say unto the children of Israel, Ye have seen that I have talked with you from heaven.

23 Ye shall not make with me gods of silver, neither shall ye make unto you gods of gold.

24 An altar of earth thou shalt make unto me, and shalt sacrifice thereon thy burnt offerings, and thy peace offerings, thy sheep, and thine oxen: in all places where I record my name I will come unto thee, and I will bless thee.

25 And if thou wilt make me an altar of stone, thou shalt not build it of hewn stone: for if thou lift up thy tool upon it, thou hast polluted it.

26 Neither shalt thou go up by steps unto mine altar, that thy nakedness be not discovered thereon.
