I know you like a little history so here is something that you may find interesting. King James II of England had about 50-60 or so scholars who translated the Bible from its original text to the King’s English. What’s important to realize here is that King James was Catholic. Of course, you know that Catholics have totally different beliefs than Protestant Christians so I won’t delve into specifics here.
Everything you wear says something about who you are and what is in your heart. While most women would not verbalize this, or even think about it, they want people to look at them. They want others, particularly men, to think they are beautiful. Today, people spend countless hours at the gym and tons of money to make their bodies look a certain way. Most of the time people say that diet and exercise are for their health, but if their hearts were exposed, it is really about 10% for their health and 90% so they can look good (true of both men and women). They have been told since the time of childhood that princesses are beautiful and wicked stepsisters are ugly. From almost the moment of birth, little girls are taught that so much of their value is found in their looks.
Beauty= good
Ugly = bad
After the division of the kingdom in Israel following the death of King Solomon, the descendants of David and Solomon reigned over the tribes of Judah and Benjamin until the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple in 586 B.C. by Nebuchadnezzar King of Babylon. Beginning with David, this earthly dynasty included 21 kings and lasted approximately 425 years. However, scripture records that after Solomon, only four kings walked in the steps of their father David: Asa, Jehoshaphat, Hezekiah, and Josiah. King Hezekiah is truly one of the great examples of faith and righteousness found in God’s word.

Aunt Isharah’s ladies’ class lesson this past Sunday afternoon was on covetousness, and the way the Devil can trap us in it without our even realizing it. One of the points she made that was very thought provoking was based on the example of the Laodiceans:
