Uneasy Beginning

http://dailypost.wordpress.com/dp_assignment/101-introduce/

I am truly a newbie to blogging even though I have had two blogs for several years.  When I began, I thought it would be a simple process and have found it is not.  Sure, composing a post is not so bad, but writing for readers is quite another thing.  My hope is to learn to do one blog the right way and perhaps adjust my older two to be better at the same time.

Questions I should answer:

  • Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal?

I had reserved this blog for experimenting and it was private, now I need to use it to learn from this course.

  • What topics do you think you’ll write about?

I should write about whatever I am assigned to write in order to learn what I need to know.

  • Who would you love to connect with via your blog?

My hope is to connect to other ladies who have the same interest as I have.

  • If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished?

I hope to learn the basics and thus not embarrass myself in how I present my content to my readers.

THE ORDER OF MELCHIZEDEK (part 2)

Occasionally The Institute of Creation Research will publish an article by one of the better known scientists who have defended the Creationist view against the Evolutionists. The article below, about a specific Bible topic, was written by one such scholar, Henry Morris, author of The Genesis Flood.

THE ORDER OF MELCHIZEDEK (part 1)

“The LORD hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek.” (Psalm 110:4)

The importance of this verse is indicated both by the fact that it is a Psalm, which is quoted at least 12 times in the New Testament. This verse is also central to the main theme of Hebrews, chapters 5–7. It is quoted no fewer than five times in the book Hebrews. Melchizedek (spelled Melchisedec in the New Testament) is mentioned nine times. It refers to the strange appearance in Genesis 14:18-20. The Lord makes the point that when Melchizedek’s name is translated, he is the “King of Righteousness.” When the remainder of his description, the “King of Salem,” is translated, he is also the King of “Peace.” Some claim that Salem was a former name of Jerusalem, but there is no evidence to make such an assumption. Such hardly does justice to the exalted descriptions of Melchizedek in Scripture. He is the “priest of the most high God” (Heb. 7:1), suddenly appearing, and then disappearing as mysteriously as he came.

IT MOVED ME TO TEARS

Magic Flying Carpet
Magic Flying Carpet

Like most idealists who come to India for the first time, we initially expected to see a storybook land of maharajas, magic carpets, temples and mosques to inspire our imaginations. However, living here on the ground with the people is far different than just touching the tarmac, going to a posh hotel and chronicling a visit with photographs once or twice a year. There is a harsh reality of having three times the number of people the US census claims all squashed into one-third the land space. To get some idea of what it really is, multiply your family by three and then imagine two-thirds less living space!  Or multiply your family by nine in the same living space.  That’s mind boggling.

JUST BLOWING SAND

When I was a girl at home, we had a nice little newspaper called The Donley County Leader that often featured news from several towns in Donley County Texas. The part I liked was that it also featured poetry.

One column was called “Plowin’ Out the CORNERS” by Uncle Zeb. I never really knew who Zeb was, but we corresponded several times. Once I submitted a poem written by my mother and he thought it was great. Another time or two, I wrote him about what was going on in our “neck of the woods,” and he always answered me. Here is a copy of one article he wrote along with the poem I submitted.
